Michael Whiteside

Michael Whiteside

Michael Whiteside is a husband, father, veteran, trail runner, community builder, and one of Consequence of Habit’s original ambassadors. Based in Northern Utah, Michael has been married for over 20 years and has one daughter, along with a full household that includes three dogs, one cat, and ten chickens.

Michael is an active-duty Air Force veteran who served as a Heavy Equipment Technician and deployed multiple times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His military background, professional discipline, and commitment to service continue to shape the way he shows up for his family, work, and community.

An accomplished trail runner, Michael has completed more than 40 ultra trail marathons, including eight 100-mile races. His passion for the outdoors led him to found the Davis Mountain Goats, a local trail running group created to bring the trail community together and give back to the places they train, race, and explore.

As one of CoH’s original ambassadors, Michael has embodied the mission from the beginning by turning his own habits, discipline, and love for the outdoors into a way to serve others. Through Davis Mountain Goats, he coordinates trail work days that improve access and sustainability for all trail users. With funding provided through Consequence of Habit and the Athletic Brewing Two for the Trails grant program, the group is able to expand its impact, support volunteer efforts, and strengthen the connection between community, service, and the outdoors.

Michael brings to the Consequence of Habit Board of Directors a deep commitment to service, discipline, community, and the belief that the habits we build can create a ripple effect far beyond ourselves.
