Dr. Laura Johnson

 

Dr. Laura Johnson is a Licensed Psychologist, a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and a Certified Play Therapist.  She has been in the health and wellness field for over twenty years.  She is currently the Installation Director of Psychological Health and the Chief of Behavioral Health at Ireland Army Health Clinic at Fort Knox, KY.  Dr Johnson also teaches the Military specific courses at the University of Louisville’s Kent School of Social Work and is a yoga and meditation teacher trainer for the national fitness organization AAAI-ISMA (American Aerobics Associates International and the International Sports Medicine Association).  Prior to becoming a licensed psychologist, Dr. Johnson served nearly 10 years on active duty as a Military Police Officer, and several years as an Individual Mobilization Asset and Individual Ready Reserve Component Soldier. 

Dr. Johnson attended Stetson University on a four-year Reserve Officer Training Corp Scholarship.  Upon graduation she was commissioned a Second Lieutenant.  Her first assignment was Fort Knox, KY, she was later assigned to Seoul Korea, the Military District of Washington, Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, the United States Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, KS, and Fort McPherson, GA; she left military service as a Major to pursue her doctorate.

Dr. Johnson attended Central Michigan University where she earned a Master’s of Science in Administration, Oswego State University where she earned a Master’s of Science degree in Counseling, and then in 2002 she began her studies at Florida State University and earned her doctorate in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology in 2007.   She has worked as an educator and a psychologist since that time.

Dr. Johnson is dedicated to health, wellness and the holistic approach to personal growth and healing.  She is married to COL (US ARMY RET) Fred Johnson and they have one daughter, Madelyn Johnson, B.S., an aspiring mental health provider who is currently a clinical research coordinator at the University of San Francisco, CA.
